What is a singularity?

A singularity is a hypothetical point in space-time where gravitational forces become infinitely strong. It is believed to occur at the center of a black hole, where the density and curvature of space-time becomes infinite. The laws of physics as we know them break down in the presence of a singularity, making it difficult to predict what would happen beyond the event horizon. The existence and properties of singularities are still topics of research in astrophysics and theoretical physics.
